Happy Girl Wine is a small, independently owned neighborhood bottle shop in Royal Oak, Michigan, striving to make the world of wine feel a little less intimidating and a lot more accessible.
We’re not sommeliers. We’re wine lovers, full-time professionals, and friends! We are here to talk to you about the wines in plain language and guide you through the shopping experience so you are confident in the bottle you take home.

We seek out high-quality wines from unique producers at approachable prices because we believe one of the best ways to learn about wine is to try new things, and you shouldn’t have to gamble $50 to do it! Plus, we try every wine before it earns a spot on our shelves. If we wouldn’t be excited to drink ourselves, we won’t ask you to!

What is “Clean” Wine?
This is the question we get the most!
“Clean” wine isn’t a strict certification, so there’s no single definition that can tell you exactly what’s in every bottle. For us, it’s a simple term to describe all wines made with thoughtful farming and winemaking practices, as few unnecessary additives and interventions as possible, and consideration for the environmental, economic, and social impact of how the wine is produced.
Oftentimes, this looks like organic or biodynamic farming, hand-harvesting, native yeast, little to no added sulfites, vegan production, or supporting minority-owned producers. Sometimes, it simply means a winemaker who takes a thoughtful, intentional approach to what goes into the bottle.
We don’t believe there’s one right way to make wine. We just believe it’s worth knowing what’s in your glass and supporting producers who care about how they get it there!
